Florida Officer Suspended For Racist Social Media Posts

Lt. Trudy Callahan of the Jacksonville County Sheriff’s Office was suspended for 10 days following an investigation that she posted a racist photo on Instagram. “Yeah its almost Friday so get your Hood Hammock,” Callahan wrote in a caption on a photo of a black man lying on a chain fence that resembles a hammock. “Ready to chillax” she added. There were also two other photos in question where Callahan engaged in a dialogue on photos about African Americans; she even responded to a comment calling a black man the ‘N word’. Reportedly, the twenty year veteran has been the subject of a dozen of complaints during her time on the force and this latest incident is her fourth suspension. In her defense, Callahan says the social media posts were “taken out of context” and “twisted and turned to fit people’s agendas”. NY Daily News

Hotel Worker Allegedly Sexually Assaulted A Young Mother

Nolasco Lopez Ramirez was the former head of housekeeping at a Days Inn Hotel in St. Paul, MN. The 25-year-old reportedly entered the room of one of the guests to make her bed but he continued to linger in the room after he was done. The victim says she went to the bathroom to give Ramierez her dirty towels in efforts to get him to leave but he instead trapped her in the bathroom and raped her. The assailant reportedly told the guest, “I know you want it. Stop lying. That’s the only reason you opened the door.” According to the victims claims, he think proceeded to throw a $5 bill at her and said, “This will take care of it.” The assault took place while the victims 9-month-old daughter was in the room. When he was apprehended, Ramierez claimed he didn’t recall assaulting the woman because he was drunk and high. Police dispute the claim that he was intoxicated at the time of his arrest. Reportedly, Ramierez faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Twin Cities Pioneer Press

Cruise Ship Rescues Felons Attempting To Flee The Country

Luis Rivera-Garcia, 26, Juliet Estrada-Perez, 23, and Enrique Gonzalez-Torres, 23 were wanted in connection to a skimming scheme that pilfered cash from a Louisiana gas station. The Cuban nationals skipped bond and fled New Orleans by boat with the hopes of avoiding federal indictment for credit card fraud. The Disney Fantasy cruise ship spotted the get away boat, when the U.S. Coast Guard fingerprinted the trio, they were subsequently taken back to the U.S., to Key West Florida where they’re awaiting further legal action.
