Renisha McBride Family Reaches Civil Settlement With Daughter’s Killer

Theodore Wafer will be paying the family of the late Renisha McBride an undisclosed amount in a civil settlement they reached after Wafer was convicted of second-degree murder and manslaughter for fatally shooting McBride in 2013. Wafer is serving 17 years in prison for the crime. When asked about McBride’s parents, their lawyer Gerald Thurswell said: “They were pleased with the settlement…However, they both said that they would give all the money in the world to have their daughter back.” Read the full story at the Huffington Post.

US Kills Major Al-Qaida Leader, Obama & House Republicans Try To Salvage The Trade Bill   

Obama just made the biggest attack on Al-Qaida since he found and killed Osama bin Laden. A U.S. airstrike killed Nasir al-Wahishi, the second-highest Al-Qaida leader in the Yemeni branch—a significant development since the terrorist group has been using the current civil war in Yemen to its advantage to claim territory in the region. Obama isn’t patting himself on the back just yet, though. After House Democrats struck down his Pacific trade legislation, he and Republicans are putting their heads together on how to get around the initial opposition to the bill. Let the games begin. Donald Trump, everyone’s favorite real estate mogul and reality star is joining the rat race alongside Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton. Another Kalief Browder? A Man Jailed At Rikers As A Teen Still Waiting For Trial 7 Years Later

I’m soooo over Rikers right now. After being accused of fatally stabbing a man and slashing another individual with two friends in Washington Heights in 2008, Carlos Mentero is still at Riker’s Island waiting for a trial. The best part—Mentero denies even being at the scene of the crime in the first place. New York law states that the promise of a speedy trial doesn’t relate to murder cases but seven years? I can’t. Vatican Brings Former Archbishop To Court For Molestation Charges

Remember when the Pope announced the Vatican was opening a new court specializing on sexual abuse cases? It looks like their about to put it to use. Jozef Wesolowski, previously an archbishop and papal ambassador to the Dominican Republic is being brought to court on charges of paying for sex with minors and possessing child pornography.
