Ne-Yo is rarely ever seen without a debonair hat adorning his head. From fancy fedoras to beanies to Kangols tilted precisely to the side, hats are as much of a staple in Ne-Yo’s wardrobe as a fly pair of shoes (that he uses to slide across the hardwood, of course).

With the release of his latest disc, “Non-Fiction,” we tapped Ne-Yo to become our ninth InterludesLIVE performer. After an intimate performance at The Conga Room in LA, Ne-Yo sat down with InterludesLIVE host Smokey Fontaine, where he recalled being bullied over his receding hairline as a teen.

“I’ve been wearing hats from the 7th grade,” Ne-Yo revealed during the candid sit down. “My hairline is definitely not dope. My hair started thinning really, really young. I was one of the few kids in my school who was allowed to wear my hat because I used to get picked on a lot for what my hairline was turning into.” He added, “I kept the hat on to avoid being talked about.”

No worries Ne-Yo, we love a good hat moment too!

Because of his addiction to hats, “Religious” singer has since developed a massive collection. “I have a problem,” he revealed jokingly.

Watch Ne-Yo detail his struggles in the above clip then tune in to the full InterludesLIVE show on Saturday, March 28 at 10pm/9c on TV One!
