Kelly Price Reminisces On Recording 'Friend Of Mine' Wirth R. Kelly

Whenever I hear Kelly Price’s song “Friend Of Mine,” I can’t help but hit a groove and sing along after I proclaim, “Ooo girl, that’s my jam.” It’s just one of those nostalgic tunes that transports you to a time in your life when 90s music controlled the radio.

Kelly visited #TeamBeautiful to perform her new song “It’s My Time” and reminisced on the recording process that made the “Friend Of Mine” remix a hit.

“I sent [R. Kelly] the song and he hit me back and was like ‘You need to get to Chicago right now, but I need Ronald to get to Chicago too’ and I’m like ‘OK’,” she said remembering the moment. “He wouldn’t let any of us hear it, we had to fly to Chicago.”

She continued, “When we walked into the studio, [R. Kelly] is very dramatic. He was like dimming the lights, he’s got all this mood going on and he say’s ‘OK. Are you ready for this masterpiece?”
