Every HBCU alum knows that homecoming is the official turn up season! Bring on the tailgates, concerts, barbecues, step shows and more because no body knows how to get a party started better that the students from historically black colleges and universities.

This is the time where alumni, students and neighbors can connect with the communities, reminisce on old times, share their school pride, boost the local economy and show Miley Cyrus how it’s really supposed to be done.
And let’s not forget all of the beautiful, educated Black singles!
Check out our picks for the top five HBCU homecomings that you don’t want to miss this year!
1. North Carolina A&T State University
They don’t call it “the greatest homecoming on Earth,” for nothing! Each year, the Aggies at North Carolina A&T University bring in the fun, food and revenue. Check out the festivities, including the football game against Virginia University of Lynchburg, from Nov. 1-3.
Mike Epps is scheduled to host the comedy show, while Franklin will headline the gospel concert. “Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta” star K. Michelle will host the NPHC Step Show and the official homecoming show will include performances from Kelly Rowland, T.I., Juicy J and J. Cole.
2. Spelhouse!
It’s tradition for the men of Morehouse and the women of Spelman to celebrate their homecoming together, and honestly what’s better than double the fun? This year, the annual tailgate party, football game against the Benedict College Tigers, NPHC Step Show and homecoming Parade will be held October 20-27.
Accoding to Morehouse’s website, this is “not for the faint of heart, this event is for the serious tailgaters and party goers!”
3. Howard University
After 89 years, HU has a lot to celebrate this homecoming! As the Howard Bisons play the Morgan State University Bears, we are sure the a slew of celebrities, party goers and media will come out like they do every year. Rappers Bone Thugs, Juicy J and Big Sean are just a few of the stars expected to hit the stage at the school’s infamous YardFest, while crooners like Erykah Badu, Trey Songz and Mary Mary are expected to perform at other ticketed concerts. The fun kicks off Oct. 22-27.
Interesting fact: the International Yardfest is known to bring in up to 75,000 people!
4. Hampton University
The 2013 homecoming festivities at Hampton will kick off the weekend of Oct. 11-13. The Pirates will take on the North Carolina A&T Aggies at 2 p.m. at Armstrong Stadium. Get ready for fashion shows, steps shows and plenty of drinks!
5. Florida A&M
If you are looking for a show, then you need to go the FAMU vs. Howard game at the Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 19. Be prepared to see the drum majors dropping it like it’s hot and hitting the splits.
This year’s concert will be hosted by the FAMU Sigmas and feature “Versace” rappers Migos. The comedy show, scheduled for October 18, will include Bruce-Bruce Dominique, Sommore, Bill Bellamy, Tony Rock and Tight Mike.
