How people set off on adventures pre-smartphones, I have no idea. Keeping up with itineraries, photos, loyalty programs and checking on home can be such a headache!
Since my time is usually spent mid-air, I’m constantly in search of the best apps and websites to help make my travels a little more convenient and organized. Here are some of my latest finds I know you’ll love!
I’m loving tweekaboo’s ability to catalog and streamline moments in detail. This is a site that works great for anyone’s needs but when used specifically for travel it can really help you relive those amazing vacations by bringing together all aspects of your trip from pics to videos and even texts by capturing, saving and sharing.
This mobile networking app for events and conferences takes things one step further with it’s event discovery feature. You’ll get personalized recommendations based on your linkdin connections, previous events attended and your business profile. Events can also be searched by their popularity, location and date. Perfect for the traveling Entrepreneur or CEO on the go!
It’s hard to have a carefree and fun vacation when you’re worried about what could be happening to your home or your personal information while your away. With the FTC estimating that as many as 9 million people have their identities stolen each year, Experian’s Protect My ID has surveillance alert notifications to let you know if someone else is using your identity and brings credit monitoring to your fingertips.
This new cloud-based credit card online tool is great for frequent flyers! By matching your spending habits to it’s database of thousands of credit cards, Wallet Boost provides a customized credit card recommendation of which card will earn you the most miles, cash back and points.
For 99 cents this app lets you text and video message from anywhere in the world as long as you have wifi or 3G. No more going broke ringing up monster charges from overseas carriers!
Currently available in 38 cities within North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, Uber seamlessly connects riders to drivers. You launch the app, it pinpoints your location and visually shows you how many of its drivers are near you (and exactly how long a pick up will take), you select where you’d like to go, and a call or text let’s you know they have arrived. THAT EASY. All this is done in minutes, and with your app already preloaded with your credit card info no cash ever exchanges hands.
Beyond excited to use Vocre on my next global trip. Translation gone easy is an understatement with this free iPhone app. You set the language you are speaking in, then the language you need it translated to, speak into your phones microphone and voila!, Vocre will say and type out the phrase you need.
I don’t know about you but I’m one of the people who would often wonder what another countries version of “911” is when I’m on vacation. Having an emergency and not knowing who to call is scary! Help Call will auto detect your location and instantly pull up one touch access to the police, fire departments and ambulances in 126 countries. Safety made easy.
Bathroom on the go is the perfect way to describe this app. Another GPS based gem, this service lets your know if there is an open bathroom available near you and its amenities.
A personal fav, Trip it keeps track of all your itineraries and can export the info to your calendars. Flight info, hotels, car rental, meetings and even dinner reservations. Endless possibilities for those seeking organization.
