We caught up with 9-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis, most famous for her leading role as Hushpuppy in the film “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” on the red carpet at the 2013 BET Awards this past weekend. We asked her who she was most excited to see and we were happy to hear her say, Beyonce, because she dances to her for dance rehearsals for Annie!
The international superstar has created many songs that inspire us all. Here are four songs that even a young Quvenzhane can listen to while making her journey through Hollywood!
5. “Halo”
This song is perfect for everyone to listen to who has trust issues and have built up walls when it comes to a relationship. They can find a “halo” in their love and finally feel safe again. Quvenzhane can always listen to halo for an uplifting experience when she may be feeling down. Hollywood is not for the faint of heart, a little belief in a halo, never hurt anyone!
4. “Daddy”
Daddy is a beautiful song describing the love Beyonce and her father share for each other, and how she admires all of his traits. This tune is perfect for Quvenzhane. At this tender time in her life, her daddy is the lead man in her life!
3. “I Was Here”
This song describes how a driven person wants to leave their mark on the world in a positive way. At age eight, Quvenzhane left her mark by being the youngest person to be nominated for an Academy Award.
2. “Run The World (Girls)”
Bey has always written songs focusing on women empowerment, and lets face it, girls really do run the world! This song would definitely help Quvenzhane hone her confidence!
1. “Listen”
This passionate song is about a woman finding her voice and the ability to stand up for herself. As Quvenzhane Wallis grows, she should be aware of her womanhood and “Listen” is a tale about finding oneself.
