Father’s Day is right around the corner and along with showing your own Pops that you love him, take this as an opportunity to get some points in your boyfriend’s dad’s book.

Thank You Cards: Have you eaten dinner at his parents’ house recently? Even something as small as a meal there is an opportunity to get an ‘in’ with the parents. Write up a thank you card and compliment a dish. They will love that you went the extra mile- plus, who doesn’t like a compliment about their cooking?

Cover Up: Save the booty shorts and skin tight tanks for your own home. Even if you are just lounging at the parents’ place, make sure you look respectable. Do you still have that tattoo form when you went through a rebellious stage? Keep it covered. They probably should not find out about your belly ring either.

Bring A Gift: Of course you don’t have to go all out and bring them jewelery and clothes every time you go over. But, it is important that you show them that you think about them. Grab some flowers or chocolates when they invite you over, it’s a nice gesture and definitely racks up some points.

Be Interesting: When I was meeting my ex-boyfriend’s parents for the first time,  I was terrified. All I knew was that his dad liked cars. I watched an episode of Top Gear and brought him a magazine about cars that I found (see, bringing a small token of appreciation with you really goes a long way!). It was the perfect conversation starter and definitely gave me a leg up right from the start.

We know that the boyfriend’s parents situation can be stressful. Just keep in mind that you are in a relationship with their son for a reason- you obviously rock already. Just keep it cool and follow these tips- they will love you just as much as he does in no time!

Do you have any tips for making this sticky situation more comfortable? Help us out!
