Dwayne Wade Wins Custody Battle Against Ex-Wife
Miami Heat baller Dwayne Wade was awarded full custody of his sons against ex-wife, Siohvaughn. The two divorced in 2007 and the battle for custody of the two kids was very long, and got pretty ugly, but now it’s finally over. The judge ruled that Shiovaughn would have “regular parenting time” meaning that she would be allowed to see her sons on alternating weekends, some holidays and half of the summer.
ESPN reported that when D.Wade broke the news to his fellow teammates after their win over the Grizzles this past Saturday night, they gave him a standing ovation on the locker room.
According to necolebitchie.com, D.Wade’s lawyers stated that his ex-wife interfered with his visitation rights and kept the children from him and that she also had patterns of erratic behavior. Perhaps this is one of the reasons Dwayne was awarded full custody?
After receiving the news that he had full custody of the two boys, D.Wade made a statement to the Associated Press: “My life changed in a huge way. Mentally, I’ve been preparing for it for over a year now. To me, it’s bigger than that. For me, it shows a lot of people that you need to fight to be in your kids’ lives sometimes. You fight until you can’t fight any more. That’s all I was trying to be, a father in his kids’ lives. I think them living here, being here, it’s a great opportunity for them and I’m looking forward to it for them, to grow up with me and us learning together, how to be father-son. So I’m excited.”
