Nicki Minaj appeared on “Saturday Night Live” as both an acting guest and a performer this past weekend, and while we enjoyed all of her over-the-top wigs and hilarious “Creep!” song collabo with the rest of the cast, we can’t help but be bothered by her “Bride of Blackenstein” skit.
In it, scientists create Minaj, but get more than they bargained for, when they discover she’s a mouthy, bossy, aggressive bride.
In their own words, they got her brain from a woman “that worked at the DMV,” her fingernails from “a cashier at Walgreens” and her mouth “from a ho who didn’t know her place.” When her hair is in question, Nicki ensures us that it’s no weave, “it’s real!”
She goes on to inform her man Frankenstein that he needs a job and she needs a ring.
Is this a caricature of a modern-day black woman? Or just simply comedy?
Her “Creep!” skit, with The Lonely Island, fared better, as Nicki plays a dorky stalker.
