Keri Hilson covered Whitney Houston’s classic “I Have Nothing” last night at the BMI Pop Music Awards. She was honoring Grammy-winning songwriter David Foster who wrote the ballad for the “Bodyguard” soundtrack.
We love Keri. We really do. But this was not her strongest moment. And it seems like she knew it, too. The way she pulled away from the mic at :02 mark, instead of hitting that note shows her insecurity.
However, she kept her head up on Twitter, writing: “I sang ‘I Have Nothing’ (Whitney Houston) in a tribute to David Foster, 1 of the greatest songwriters EVER! He came over & said, ‘Your performance was BAD-ASS!!’ Told you he was genius, heh.”
