Kanye West created magic Saturday night stealing the show at the Essence Music Festival. West took stage after Jill Scott to an ecstatic New Orleans Superdome crowd surrounded by what appeared to be at least 50 dancers, fireworks, smoke and a seemingly flawless catalog of hits. The audience was on their feet by his third song, the ultimate party anthem “The Good Life” though T-Pain was no where to be found.

His performance came across heartfelt and humble despite the larger than life staging. He closed with “Hey Mama” in a touching tribute to his mother Donda West who died from complications from plastic surgery in 2007.

Check out some of our exclusive photos and video from the performance.
