2. ‘The Voice’ Taps A New Coach
NBC was “Happy” to announce that Pharrell will join the singing competition show as a coach on the upcoming season, replacing popular judge and “The Voice” original Cee-Lo Green. “Okay, we can OFFICIALLY say it! WE ARE SO #HAPPY to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS = #NewVoiceCoach for SEASON 7,” the network tweeted.
3. Adidas Gets Lucky
Pharrell’s winning ways continued with his new Adidas partnership. 4. A Star-Studded Oscar Perfomance
The Virginia Beach native was not only was nominated for Best Original Song at this year’s Academy Awards, he took to the stage with a stellar performance of his massive hit “Happy.” He even initiated an impromptu little boogie with Lupita Nyong’o!
5. ‘Happy’ Continues Global Domination
With over a million copies sold, this chart-topping anthem has dominated the Billboard Hot 100 and charts in 23 other countries. In a recent interview with GQ, Pharrell said all of his new music has a purpose. “I didn’t know what happiness was,” he said of material on his first album 2006’s “In My Mind.” “My definition of happiness was based on what my peers quantified as happiness: boats—you know, material stuff.”
