1. Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (HBO Documentary Films)

It’s been said that this Scientology documentary has shined such a major light on the church of Scientology and there’s been a lot of backlash against it. The church has fired back at the docu, calling it a “bigoted propaganda piece” with “at least one major error every two minutes.” While we were fully enthralled by it, we wondered…how many celebrity members are Black? Check out these Black scientologists!

Ron Hubbard. When he played “Chef” on South Park, an episode featured the church and Hayes abruptly quit the show. His character then joined a cult that brainwashed him and killed him off the show.

Nelson is most famously known as Dwayne Nelson from “What’s Happening,” but the retro actor is a proud member of the church. “Scientology allows me to have certainty about what I know, there’s no more guessing about how to be. Now I am free for the most important thing about me: creativity. What I want is a matter of choice. How I get it is a matter of ‘trust Scientology.'”

She’s obviously the sexiest Scientologist of them all! Back in 2013, she tweeted an image of herself entering the church with the caption, “Enlightenment.” And a few hours after, she tweeted, “Haven’t felt this relaxed in so long. Had a beautiful meeting today, feeling like I’m entering into a new realm of understanding.”

Known as the greatest entertainer of all time, About that Scientology album Hayes put out, well Doug E. Fresh contributed two of the tracks on the album. He told Essence, It changed how I thought. Scientology is not written with disrespect toward God. It doesn’t worship something that is evil. It is scientific, mathematical and spiritual. The Black community has to check it out and see what’s there.”

7. Persia White

She’s the most free loving cast member on the BET classic, “Girlfriends.” There’s a list of classes that Scientologists have completed and Persia’s name is on one of the lists that says, “Purification Rundown 84.” So that means she’s pure now?

8. Brandy Norwood

Brandy claims she only took a couple of classes and that she is not a scientologist. Ok girl.
