On the eve of the Oscars, the industry comes together and gathers on the beach in Santa Monica, Calif. To celebrate independent film at the Independent Spirit Awards.
The event, held in a massive white tent near the shore, is a more laid-back awards ceremony than most, with stars getting the opportunity to kick back, mingle with others in the industry, and honor the accomplishments of this year’s nominees (there’s even a cocktail reception before the show – and plenty of pop-ups for attendees to indulge in).
Kiki Layne, who stars in the Spirits-nominated film If Beale Street Could Talk, continued to prove she’s a style star as she hit the blue carpet looking stunning, rocking a white Chloe cape dress with a high collar and stone embellishments, and her hair styled in bantu knots. Her co-star Regina King, who is also nominated for Best Supporting Female, flashed a smile on the carpet too in a plunging black Valentino dress.
Regina Hall, Sterling K. Brown, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and more stars hit the carpet ahead of the show. Take a peek at all the looks in our red carpet rundown for the 2019 Independent Spirit Awards!
