One of the most fashionable events of the year is always the NAACP Image Awards, airing on TV One, where actors, writers, musicians and personalities bring out their best looks for the glam awards show.
This year’s show is sure to bring some cutting-edge fashion, hair and makeup looks from our fave stars like Beyonce, Viola Davis, Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae and more.
As we get closer to the show, we’ve tapped a few of our expert friends to give us some ideas on what we can expect to see. Here’s what they shared with us.
For style predictions, we asked our fashion and beauty editor Danielle James to share her expertise on what we can expect to see on Hollywood’s top fashionistas.
“The Image Awards guarantees the most on-trend looks from our favorite celebrities,” James said. “We’ll definitely see some metallic mania, with celebrities suiting up in golden gowns and silvery style or switching out their nude shoes for chrome.”
“Don’t be surprised if celebs give you the cold shoulder…with their fashion of course,” she added. “Be on the look out for one or both shoulders out, or even off-the shoulder gowns.
And while most gowns are usually sleeveless or strapless, James predicts the cooler February temps will bring us more statement sleeves.
“Expect avant-garde, architectural fashion sleeves that will surely be a part of the style conversation,” she adds.
When it comes to amazing hair, we know the stars’ locks will be laid. We asked our friend, celeb stylist Vernon Francois to share his “fab tress forecast” with us.
“I predict that this year we’ll be seeing a mix of short bobs and long-haired ponytails this awards season,” Vernon tells HelloBeautiful.
Stars who have nailed this look in the past include Viola Davis, as seen in her fabulous sexy bob above.
But sleek and stylish are also sure to be in the mix, as Vernon tells us.
“I expect to see lots of luxe texture and dramatic, clean styles that celebrate big, soft, strong hair,” he added.
But of course, what’s an awards show without incredible makeup and beauty looks? We’ll be on the lookout for inspiration from the stars.
Makeup artist Danielle Henry shares what she expects to see: “I think we will see makeup on both ends of the spectrum. I predict the “no makeup” makeup look with stars showing off their natural beauty.
But I also predict we will see vampy looks with deep red lips and sexy smoky eyes,” Henry added.
