R&B songstress Jhené Aiko has decided to take a stand against the volatile treatment of animals in the fur industry. In the latest PETA campaign, titled, “Drop The Fur,” the musical beauty bares all to raise awareness on what really happens to make fur coats and other animal based products.

Jhené laments in an exclusive video for the animal rights foundation,

“Animals have feelings, they have souls, they have emotions, and the way that they are killed for fur is very inhumane.”

The fur trade has had a dark reputation as the revelation of how animals are abused and killed in the name of fur have been revealed to consumers and celebrities alike. In most factories that produce fur products, animals are forced to live in dire conditions. Some of the animals include minks, raccoons, and domestic animals such as cats and dogs. They are often strangled, beaten and electrocuted for manufacturing purposes — with profit being the main agenda and concern.

Not only Jhene fighting for humane treatment of animals, but also has decided to go vegan. After falling ill and being admitted to the hospital, she was told the cause was her diet. That’s when she decided it was time for her to start making changes and become more aware of what was going on in the world around her. She declared, “As human beings we have the power to speak up for animals.” She continues, “We have to wake up and educate ourselves on how animals are being treated.”

Jhené is the latest recipient of PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2016 Award. She proudly discusses this accomplishment and more in an exclusive interview with PETA. Check it out, here.
