Lee Daniels Refuses To ‘Embrace’ Racism In His Career
The musical drama follows three women (Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady) in Atlanta, hoping to break through the industry and achieve fame.
During the interview, he defends his decision to cast a White woman as the lead of his new Fox show, saying, “I think that this white girl is so fabulous that black people will embrace her, and white people will embrace her.”
Daniels goes on to explain that he feels America is in a civil war, and he refuses to ’embrace’ racism.
“If I embraced it, it then it became real. And if it became real, then I would be an angry black man,” he said.
