Mary J. Blige Sings Through Her Pain On ‘Thick Of It’

Mary J. Blige has put her pain into her music since her 411 days and her heartfelt songs have served as the soundtrack to Black women everywhere. And with news of her impending divorce, fans are dying to hear the music that made us fall in love with her in the first place.

Mary tapped Jazmine Sullivan, who helped write her latest single “Thick Of It.”

“This song is so personal it’s almost painful to let it out,” Blige said in an official press release. “I don’t hold back though, it’s not who I am and there’s no way I am going to start changing now.”

She added,

“We all deal with love and the emotions that we get tangled up in, and we gotta survive, grow and remain honest to our best selves,” she says. “I feel that with this song and it’s the first one off this album I’ve been immersing myself in for two years now. Music just saves me no matter what in life is happening.”
