Billboard Music Awards? Nah, this was Ciara‘s fashion’s night out!
Since Ciara is taking her time working on “the best album of her career,” she had some free time to host this year’s Billboard Music Awards…albeit a bit awkwardly.
Whether it was calling Jessica Alba a New York Times Best Selling Author a “New Yorks Best Time Selling Author”…
Or gyrating a la Miley Cyrus style on stage in a double thigh-high split Michael Costello dress while Ludacris looked on painstakingly and then tried to play it off.
…she looked beautiful doing it giving us seven different dresses and hairstyles.
Here are all 7 looks from CiCi’s fashion night out aka the Billboard Music Awards, in a special extended edition of “Fab Or Fug!”
- ARRIVAL OUTFIT: FAB!
The Internet webs were abuzz with this nip slip waiting to happen Philipp Plein dress that Ciara executed flawlessly on the red carpet. Ciara has body for days, but I wish she would do something different. Rihanna arrived in a Mugler chocolate-colored, power-shoulder breasted dress. It was daring and the opposite of everything we’ve been seeing on the red carpet. That’s fashion!
2. LET THE SHOW BEGIN: FUG
Ciara opened the show in a Michael Costello double slit thigh-high gown. I’m not feeling the middle part among her bangs and messy buns and beach wavy deep parts. The cape swallowed Ciara and the black waist-belt would have looked better in a pop of color. The gladiator strappy sandals were too heavy for the dress that already had an abundance of fabric. I would have preferred a pop of color somewhere on the ensemble and fewer straps, like this YSL heel.
3. GIVE ‘EM SOME LEG: FUG
Ciara donned a leg-baring Roberto Cavalli deep-v sequin embroidered mini dress. She gave us her Givenchy hair from Paris Fashion Week, I do love the look on her as a fishtail braid with open hair in the front ups the glam factor. The gold spiral strapped shoes are beautiful and the perfect statement shoe to show off her endless legs. While I love the dress, it didn’t seem Billboard Music Awards host-ish. This looks more like an after party look and it could use a little more length because her vagina just might peek out for a hello.
Also, this look was slightly reminiscent of Beyoncé while she was on the Mrs. Carter World Tour back in 2014. She donned the below $6500.00 Tom Ford jersey that she wore to perform Run The World (Girls). It’s not that Ciara doesn’t look nice and fashionable (after all, she is an IMG model), I just want her to have some iconic looks of her own. All that body and beauty — she should definitely be making a statement!
4. SLICK AND ON EDGE: FUG
Ciara posed in a black $324.00 Lexi gown with a nude panel and thigh high boots. She slicked her hair back for an edgier feel. But I have to say, the beautiful gown by this Australian label looks a bit blah on Ciara. The extra black fabric hanging over the nude panel looks misplaced and not well thought out on the garment. I do like the minimal jewelry and makeup and the simple choker. Ciara sure does love her a thigh-high split. Hate to say it, but the garment looks better the way it was styled on the model.
5. VELVET AND GOLD: FAB!
CiCi sure loves her some Michael Costello…as she should! The designer creates dresses that make so many shapes and sizes look fantastic. He’s truly a designer for many body types. Ciara wore a deep-v, power-shoulder velvet dress with a thigh-high split and one-strap gold sandals. While I do love this dress, she further just proves my point that she is in a style rut with yet another, thigh-high split dress. Girl, give us something different!
6. WITH A SIDE OF MESH: FUG
This fitted asymmetrical Galia Lahav Banko gown is held together with several tribal accessories. I wish she paired a nude or metallic shoe with this ensemble. This self-proclaimed gladiator dress is half conservative with a whole lot of detail.
7. YOU’VE GOT (CHAIN) MAIL: FUG
This mesh, sequin, laser cut Naeem Khan Autumn/Winter 2016 dress has me feeling like Ciara’s mind is still at this years’ Met Gala. She gave us silver and sheer at the opening of the show. I would have liked to see something different, like a jumpsuit or a crop top gown a la Zendaya (who by the way, is quickly on the rise to be the next fashion icon – don’t get lazy, Rihanna!).
Ciara’s unfortunate style rut doesn’t fare well for the new model/aspiring fashion icon. Hopefully, she will take some more daring approaches to her look and surprise us with some style. Showing skin is sexy but showing style takes true talent. (Girl: call Law Roach immediately).
Beauties, which Ciara look do you like the best?
