Melanie Fiona was five days overdue and ready to deliver her baby naturally, easily and “obviously with some pain.” In a Youtube video about her birth story titled “It’s Time To Tell The Truth (uncut)” the “Bite The Bullet” singer revealed the painful truth about her experience giving birth.
“My contractions were so bad I was experiencing triples,” she explained. “I was experiencing contractions for five minutes, which was excruciating.”
Soon after, Melanie began to experience complications. She developed edema and her blood pressure continued to rise. After running tests, she found out she developed preeclampsia during her labor. Doctors warned she may need a c-section to which Melanie, replied, “absolutely no.”
She received an epidural to rest her body which was under high stress. To make matters worse, the baby was posterior.
Nine hours later, Melanie was only 7 cm. It wasn’t until her partner Jared came into her hospital room and said “I have to leave the hospital with both of you,” that she realized how severe her situation was.
Melanie gave birth later that night to a healthy baby boy.
