When picking out the perfect color for you there are lots of things to consider. Listen, you don’t want to make a rash decision with a permanent result. So, of course, I am going to give you some great tips and tricks to help you get the look.

DO YOUR RESEARCH

First things first, if you are new to hair color you may want to do some research on the different types (permanent, semi-permanent) to find out what you prefer. Then you may want to find out what colors are best for your hair type and texture. As always I advocate for hair health before everything else so you want to make sure that the steps you take in this process won’t harm your hair.

FIND HELP

So that brings me to my next point, ladies please, Please, PLEASE go see a professional. There are many things I will tell you how to do on your own but coloring your hair yourself isn’t one of them. It is a job for a licensed cosmetologist with experience in hair color. So as I previously mentioned, do your research on a stylist that is experienced in coloring your hair type. Just trust me on this one, it will make all the difference in your final look as well as your hair’s health.

TRAIL RUN

You have a color in mind, you even found the perfect stylist for the job, but you are still scared to take that big leap. Don’t worry, I got you! I recommend you try the color as a weave or some clip-ins to give it a trail run. This allows you to see exactly how you would slay this look on a daily basis. There are numerous hair brands who sell pre-colored human and synthetic hair in many hair types. One of my personal favorites is Janet Collection. They have great quality hair that can be found in just about every beauty supply store and online, and most importantly you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Also, JanetCollection.com has these amazing new clip in combs that you can attach to any of their many weaves without having to sew them on. This will make it so much easier for just about anybody to try a new look. I’ve personally tried these extensions and I love utilizing them to update my look without a lot of effort.

MAKE IT LAST FOREVER

Once you’ve pulled the trigger and got your fab new hair color you want to make sure it last and stays as vibrant as possible in between any touchups. It is important to use the right products for your new look. Be sure to ask your stylist if they have any recommendations of products for color treated hair. Also, you can try to see if some of your favorite brands have any special products for color treated hair. The use of any kind of chemical in your hair can be drying so you want to put a deep condition into your wash regimen at least every 1 to 2 weeks. Avoid using a lot of heat and any other products that may have a drying effect on your hair because this will ultimately lead to hair breakage and damage.

I hope you find these tips helpful on your journey to a new spring do. I can’t wait to see your fierce new hair colors so be sure to tag @HBSoBeautiful and @AliciaFajardoHair in your Instagram post.
