During Beyoncé’s sold-out concert in her hometown of Houston, TX on Saturday, there were a few dozen police officers protesting outside the NRG Stadium, KHOU wrote. The group performed a silent protest, shining a blue light on the stadium.

“Some of her performances we believe to be anti-police,” said Tony Ragsdale, who is a member of the Pasadena Police Department and of the Coalition for Police and Sheriffs (C.O.P.S.) told the local news.

Ragsdale is referring to Bey’s “Formation” video where she stood on top of a New Orleans police car, sinking into the water beneath her. But Beyonce was clear in her recent Elle interview that she her message was never anti-cop, just anti-police brutality.

“I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers. Anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken,” she told the fashion Bible in their May issue.

Meanwhile, according to KHOU her fans at the concert stood by the pop star.

“She can say whatever she wants, she’s Beyoncé,” said Andrea James, who drove from Memphis to attend the concert told the local news. Another fan, Mitchell Moser agreed. “That’s stupid, she’s not against cops,” he said.

Clearly, Bey wasn’t fazed. On Mother’s Day, she and Jay-Z spent a cultured filled Sunday at the Menil Musuem, we wrote earlier.

This isn’t the first time that police have protested or threatened to protest. As HELLO BEAUTIFUL previously reported that after her Super Bowl performance, some Tampa police swore they would not provide security for her during her stint in their city.
