Weeks after Johnny Gill confirmed that a New Edition biopic as well as a reunion tour was forthcoming, the film has officially been cast.
According to Shadow & Act: Bryshere Y. Gray will play Michael Bivins; Elijah Kelley is Ricky Bell; singer-songwriter Luke James is Johnny Gill; Algee Smith is Ralph Tresvant; Keith Powers is Ronnie Devoe, and Woody McClain plays Bobby Brown.
With careers spanning over three decades, the untitled miniseries will air on BET over the course of three nights. Abdul Williams (“Lottery Ticket”) is penning the script and Chris Robinson (“ATL,” “Real Husbands of Hollywood”) will be directing.
Production is set to begin in May and the project is slated to air in 2017.
