Is there lip gloss in jail? Lil Mama was recently arrested and taken into custody. The Harlem rapper best known for her songs “Lip Gloss” and “Sausage” was detained for driving on a suspended license.
According to E! News, the 26-year-old was going 38 in a 25 MPH zone at 4am on Thursday, March 10th. When the officer ran her information, it was discovered that her license was suspended back in 2013, also for speeding.
Per the NYPD, she faces charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, violation of local law and driving with out a license.
She’s since released a statement acknowledging the incident.
“I would like to apologize to my family, friends and fans for my actions last night. I made a mistake and it was totally irresponsible of me to drive without a valid drivers license. My actions do not in any way reflect who I am as a person.
“As I move forward, I have learned a valuable lesson and understand the consequences for my actions which resulted in my arrest. I appreciate the support and the concern for my well being during this time. I have worked very hard, and I would like to continue to be a role model for young women and men. With that being said, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will take the necessary measures to have this quickly resolved and corrected.”
Ever since Lil Mama ran up on stage in 2009 and interrupted Jay-Z and Alicia Keysduring “Empire State Of Mine”, her career has never been the same. Even her breakout performance as Left Eye in the 2014 TLC biopic didn’t jumpstart her career.
Hopefully she can spin this arrest into some more positive press. Keep trying Lil Mama, we’re rooting for you!
