Listen up fellas: Zendaya Coleman’s daddy is not playing around. To date Kazembe Ajamu Coleman’s daughter, auditions are required. And she’s not protesting one bit.
The 19-year-old singer opened up about her father’s role in dating and her budding romance with New York Giant, Odell Beckham Jr. on Hot97’s on-camera show. “Just cause you in the NFL doesn’t mean you get a little slide or a little pass,” Coleman said about the keen 23-year-old athlete. “You gotta go through dad. O.K.”

The importance of a protective and loving man in a young woman’s life is vital. Father figures are not only a source of guidance, they should be the gate keepers of riff-raff boys. And quite frankly, fathers are the first ones to spot the B.S.
Talk began about Zendaya and Odell last week when they walked the red carpet of the Republic Records Private Grammy Celebration hand and hand. Looking like the perfect pair, not far behind was Zendaya’s father who accompanies her to many public events.
“I would approve,” daddy Coleman told TMZ about the prospect of his daughter and Beckham going on a second date. “He actually was a perfect gentleman, he was polite, he was courteous, he was respectful in every way. I commend that young man and his parents on how they raised him.”
Beckham Jr. is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, attended Louisiana State University for college and has been signed to the Giants since 2014. When asked if they were fully dating, Zendaya replied, “My dad said it best, ‘it’s the audition phase.'”
With the ball in the Beckham’s court, it’s really up to him to show and improve. But he should know that her father will always been paying close attention.
“As parents, we never let anything go,” Kazembe added. “She’s going to be my baby girl forever— I’m the same way with my two other girls. One is 40 and the other is 35. Even the one that’s married, I stay on his [her husband’s] case. So..”
