Madam C.J. Walker is our SHE-ro for being the first Black woman to become a self-made millionaire in America. Now, Sundial is working to bring her legacy of Black women’s hair care to the 21st century.

On March 4, 2016, kinky, straight, wavy, curly textured beauties will be able to get their hands on the new Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture line reformulated to meet our modern hair needs. Sundial is partnering with Sephora to open up Walker’s legacy of beauty products to the general market.

“In partnering with Sephora, this launch represents another step forward in our rich history and continues Madam C.J. Walkers’ legacy to help every woman feel confident to embark on the life she desires.  It’s also a dream come true not just for us, but for the millions of women who have been touched by the legacy of Madam C.J. Walker and the millions more who will be inspired to reach their own levels of greatness by hearing her story,” said Richelieu Dennis, CEO of Sundial Brands

The brand team worked closely with Madam Walker’s great-great-granddaughter to bring the project about with integrity and historical accuracy.

“Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture is taking what Madam Walker envisioned more than 100 years ago to a fresh, new level with products and formulas I believe she might have imagined for the 21st century,” said A’Lelia Bundles, her granddaughter.

Expanding the collection to suit the needs of an array of hair types incorporates Walker into the larger hair care dialogue, versus keeping her isolated to Black history.

“In one of her last speeches, Madam Walker emphasized the importance of healthy hair – whether curly-kinky, straight, wavy, or in-between – each style beautiful in its own uniqueness. With this line, every woman can have healthier hair while also confidently expressing her beauty in the best way possible – hers,” her grand-daughter concluded.

This partnership is set to earn Madam C.J. Walker a place in beauty history again with a business venture that now spans centuries.

We are so excited to see our Black female heroes celebrated not only by us, but by the world.
