After Lauryn Hill failed to appear on stage at The Grammys with The Weeknd, fans speculated about what caused the now infamous “no show.”

Hill’s camp responded, citing the last minute nature of the performance. But now, Recording Academy President, Neil Portnow is clapping back saying “none of that statement is accurate.”

“We had rehearsals off-site that she didn’t attend, but we had a dress rehearsal onstage that she did attend,” Portnow told Los Angeles Times. “When it came to showtime, we were told she was late, three minutes to seven minutes out, but she didn’t make it.”

The president goes on to cite her CPT as a reason for the whole debacle:

“Our intention was, and we were ready, right up to the moment of the performance, for her to step up onstage,” Portnow said. “She didn’t get into the building on time. If I have to be someplace on time, I’d figure out how to do that.”

Yikes.

Lauryn’s camp, however, did not go down without a fight. They released another statement explaining the whole thing was meant to be a surprise, and Ms. Hill did everything in her power to rush to LA on time.

This is a lot of “he said, she said.” Who do you think is at fault?
