UPDATE: TMZ learned that Ntombi has been in the U.S. for years with the help of a visitor visa. The ‘visitor for pleasure’ document allowed her to stay in the US for one year, then she returned back to South Africa to see her biological family. Before returning to the states she had to fill out the paperwork again and was able to maintain her residency that way.
Chris Rock is under fire for a bizarre adoption mystery.
According to TMZ, in 2008, a little girl named Ntombi from South Africa began living with the Rock family. The couple took her in as their own, even enrolling her in a local New Jersey school.
The act would appear to be noble, but it’s illegal.
The child hasn’t been in touch with Chris since he began divorce proceedings with his wife Malaak. Reportedly, he has not seen the girl in over a year, but is still in touch with his biological daughters. The reason for this–he allgedly believes the circumstances under which she was brought to his home were suspicious.
South African officials started investigating the case to determine how the child got to the US in the first place if she wasn’t adopted.
Apparently, this was Malaak’s thing that she orchestrated, and once the divorce happened, Chris took his hands off of it.
Allegedly, the biological parents of Ntombi were unemployed and the Rocks took her in to assist them.
We are all here for helping those in need, but you have to make sure loose ends or tied, or this kinda stuff can get messy–especially with a child involved.
We can’t imagine how devastated the child is feeling being ripped from the home she’s known from infancy.
