Usher opened up about his son’s battle with type 1 diabetes.

His 7-year-old-son Cinco was diagnosed last year, and Usher has been using his platform to bring awareness to the disease ever since.

In an interview with People, the former ‘Voice’ host expressed, ‘A child that every day has to prick himself and has to be cautious of what he eats and also to carry this disorder around — that really is the type of bravery that we all aspire to have.’

His comments are timely, given that November is National Diabetes Month.

‘There’s been some difficult moments,’ he says, but ‘having dealt with it on a daily basis, I have a great deal of understanding of what people have to deal with. It’s personal,’ he continued.

On the cusp of losing his step-son in 2012 in a tragic jet ski collision, and almost losing his Junior in a pool accident, we know that Usher’s love for his children goes beyond the depths of adversity.

It’s beautiful to see how touched he is by his son’s courage.
