Anyone upset that Derek Luke didn’t marry a Black woman is just going to have to stay mad.
Normally, the Empire star ignores any negativity about his 17-year marriage to longtime love, Sophia. That’s because he knows that the majority of the criticism will be about the fact that she’s not Black.
It doesn’t bother him that some aren’t supportive of his relationship with a non-Black woman. The hate doesn’t keep him from posting tons of pictures of them to his social media. From a quick scroll of his Instagram, it’s clear she’s always by his side. No matter where he goes she’s never far behind. That’s the way it should be in a marriage!

Derek loves his wife unapologetically, so there’s really no need for him to address the haters. But yesterday, he finally reached his breaking point. While scrolling through his comments on social media, he was overwhelmed by how badly his fans were talking about him and his wife.
He decided to sound off with a post on Instagram in defense of himself, his wife, and their love.
