Sherri Shepherd seems to be handling the fact that she lost her maternity suit against her ex‑husband Lamar Sally.
The TV personality fought hard not to be responsible for the baby delivered last summer via surrogate. A judge determined last week, however, that she is legally the child’s mother. It was a huge blow for Shepherd, but she’s putting on a brave face.
“Under the circumstances, I am doing really, really, extremely well,” Shepherd told “Entertainment Tonight” during a recent interview. “I don’t care what I go through, nothing gets me down.”
She added, “You know me. I will smile my way through anything. I believe smiling and laughter is the best medicine. So I’m doing extremely well. I think working…keeps my mind centered.”
Shepherd has been criticized for trying to give up her responsibility for the child, which she believed that Lamar tricked her into having. However, she’s standing firm (and finding comfort) in the fact that not everyone thinks she’s a horrible person.
“Well you know life is difficult so you just hang tough,” she said. “You keep going. People who know me, my character, my integrity, I feel it speaks for itself. So I’m good.”
