Biggest Loser Contestant Damien Gurganious Dies
Tragic News: ‘Biggest Loser’ Alum Damien Gurganious Dead At 38
Damien Gurganious, a 2009 contestant from the popular weight loss reality show “The Biggest Loser” has died. Damien was only 38-years-old.

Gurganious died Nov. 24th, reportedly from a rare autoimmune disorder called diopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) which causes sudden bleeding from the brain. Gurganious’s wife, Nicole confirmed his passing via Facebook. The couple appeared on the show together and lost a combined total of over 200 pounds.
Funeral services will be held in Brooklyn, New York where Gurganious grew up.
‘The Biggest Loser” issued the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened to hear of Damien’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Damien’s wife and daughter during this difficult time.”
The show also plans to air a dedication to Gurganious on next week’s episode. RIP Damien.
