Authorities are willing to shell out a huge amount of cash to catch the men that shot and killed a transgender woman in Los Angeles this week

The City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Police Department announced this week that Aniya Parker was shot in the head during a botched robbery. Now KTLA reports that there is a $50,000 reward attached to the case as the LAPD is looking to drum up some leads in the search for the three men involved in the deadly incident.

Surveillance of the burglary shows that Aniya was confronted around 2:30 a.m. on October 2. As she tried to cross the street and escape, one of the would-be robbers followed her and shot her in the head point-blank. Aniya collapsed on the sidewalk, and she laid there for a few minutes until someone came along to call for help.

Cops found Aniya with gunshot wound to head, and she was immediately rushed L.A. County-USC Medical Center. She was soon pronounced dead.

Authorities do not believe that this attempted robbery had anything to do with Aniya being transgendered. She just happened to be the target of the would-be thieves. “From what we’ve been told by witnesses, it appears … that it may be a robbery gone bad,” LAPD police Lt. Joe Losorelli said after the shooting.

While cops are hoping that a huge reward will lead to some helpful information, a collection has been taken up by Aniya’s family on GoFundMe to help pay for her funeral.
