Sonya Eskridge is a writer from Maryland, who started her news career in radio at the age of 17. After graduating from Virginia Tech, she went on to write for a national publication where she was able to mold her personal voice. Always looking for ways to inform on important issues--or share her love of nerdy and girly things—Sonya thoroughly enjoys writing about a wide range of subjects.
The issue might seem like a small one now, but remember there weren’t shows like “Teen Mom” or “16 & Pregnant” in 2002. Back then, Brandy had created a spotless persona for herself, and she was terrified to admit that she was an unwed mother.
“I felt the pressure of, again, having to be perfect. I was scared,” Brandy told Oprah. “The image that I worked so hard to build was threatened, and I felt like having a child out-of-wedlock would ruin my career.”
With that issue addressed, Brandy will also be speaking out about her memories of Whitney Houston. They were incredibly close, and Brady looked up to the “I’m Every Woman” diva, not just as a friend, but as a trust mentor.
Losing Whitney on her birthday was a devastating loss for Brandy, but it’s not the only tragedy to befall her. The “Game” star will also be talking about the devastating car wreck in California that haunts her to this day when her episode of “Where Are They Now?” airs Sunday, August 3, at 9pm on OWN.
