First Lady Michelle Obama gave Howard University students a big surprise last week. She paid the Washington D.C. campus a visit as a part of the annual “Escape to the Mecca” college tour. According to The Washington Post, she and rapper Bow Wow toured the campus with 37 students from Chicago public high schools.
During the visit, the group toured Fraziar Hall. “This isn’t bad,” the FLOTUS said of the dormitory. She went on to encourager the students to take a walk through as well. “You might be living here. I’m just visiting,” she added.
While on campus, Mrs. Obama posed for pictures and a few students shouted messages from their dorm room windows. “Hi Michelle,” several young women screamed. “Michelllllle! First lady! We love you!” One student on the tour described the experience as “the most phenomenal day of my life.”
According to the First Lady’s office, she was “very fond” of rapper Bow Wow during her 2013 appearance on BET’s “106th and Park.” She praised his commitment to education and requested he accompany her on the tour. Later that afternoon, Bow led a roundtable discussion about the importance of college and voting.
