Outkast hit the stage for the first time in seven years with a jam-packed set of their biggest hits at Coachella last night. But unfortunately, the crowd full of low-energy, uninterested “music lovers” messed up their vibe.

The set started with a rendition of “Bombs Over Baghdad” from 2000’s Stankonia and went through fan favorites like “Rosa Parks”, “So Fresh And So Clean,” “Ms. Jackson,” “GhettoMusick” and “Roses.” However, the highly-antipcated reunion show didn’t live up to its full potential due to crowd of causal hip-hop fans who didn’t know how to appreciate it. Last night should have been an exciting celebration of Outkast’s 20 years in the business, but the Coachella audience only turned up to mainstream hits “Hey Ya!” and “The Way You Move.”

Andre 3000 and Big Boi tried to hype the crowd during the 90-minute concert, repeatedly asking, “Are y’all alive?” and “Are you having a good time?” Each time they were met with a lukewarm response. The energy reached a peak when soul singer Janelle Monae and rapper Future hit the stage for surprise appearances, but that excitement soon died and everyone returned to their mediocre stance.

After a while, 3 Stacks and Big Boi realized their were no real Outkast fans in the crowd and their energy began to suffer. At one point, Andre completely stopped caring and turned his back to the audience. When the organizers cut their set short by four songs (due to scheduling), we’re sure they were happy to be taken out of their misery.

Perhaps the hipster festival wasn’t the best place for the rap duo to reunite. According to comedian Lil Duval, “Outkast should’ve did one song at Coachella for the look. Then went to Essence Festival and did the whole show.” Judging by the overload of angry tweets, Black Twitter agreed.
