James Brown is coming back to life and bringing the funk to the big screen this summer in the musical biopic, “Get On Up.” The film recounts the life story of the Godfather of Soul and his troubled childhood, brief time spent in prison and of course, his musical career and rise to fame. Chadwick Boseman, who is mostly known for his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in the popular film, “42,” shines as Brown and even nails his signature dance moves and splits in the process.

Boseman’s co-stars include Viola Davis who plays Brown’s mother and Octavia Spencer who plays his aunt. The film is set for release in the United States on August 1. Check out the trailer below.
