Kerry Washington’s husband will have plenty of time to spend with their newborn baby because he’s hanging up his helmet after 11 years of professional football.
Nnamdi Asomugha announced his retirement during a news conference at Oakland Raiders headquarters. “After 11 seasons in the NFL, I will be retiring today,” the 32-year-old shared. “I’ve been blessed and fortunate to have a successful NFL career.”
“Another journey is starting for me right now,” he added.
As for the reason for his retirement, Asomugha simply said, “Life happens.”
“You start getting these feelings — it’s time,” the former San Francisco 49ers cornerback said. “I just felt that it was the right time.”
Asomugha and Washington secretly tied the knot in a private ceremony in Hailey, Idaho on June 24. The newlyweds are currently expecting their first child together.
When asked how his movie star wife took news, Asomugha said, “I’ve had a lot of support from my family…Everybody’s just been great about it.”
