What happened in between? Quite a lot, it turns out, as Nida twice went to prison, serving nearly five months in late 1998 and early 1999 for receiving stolen goods and nearly five years in the mid-‘00s following a on racketeering charges. Apollo Nida was paroled on May 27, 2009, less than a third of the way into what was to have been an 18-year sentence.

Who is Phaedra Parks’ husband? It’s a question many have asked since news of his criminal past surfaced, and while Phae-Phae refers to Apollo, the father of her two sons, as the perpetrator of “a non-violent, white collar crime,” the website Jezebel.com reports that he’s been arrested for felony firearm possession, motor vehicle theft and numerous other crimes.

Nida has reportedly used fake names, among them Corey Lamont Thomas, William Spearman and Brandon Phillips, and Jezebel.com dubs him “a straight-up mobster.” Phaedra doesn’t take kindly to such accusations, and in May 2012, she filed a $30 million libel suit against VIBE Publishing, which released a book further detailing Apollo’s supposed illegal activities.

Who is Apollo Nida? Is he a thug, or is he simply a businessman with a checkered past—someone “no different than Martha Stewart,” as Phaedra says? Viewers can soon decide for themselves, as Phaedra and Apollo will star on their own Bravo reality series, a “Real Housewives” spinoff called, appropriately enough, “Rich People’s Problems.”
