The gospel duo is best known for their music and hit WeTv reality series, “Mary Mary.” Here’s how the network described Mr. Atkins before his passing.

“Eddie Atkins, Erica and Tina’s loving father is considered the strongest male member of the family and patriarch. As their father and a community leader & youth minister, Mr. Eddie laid the foundation for Erica & Tina’s broad reaching musical platform that allows them to deliver their brand of gospel music not just to the church but to the masses regardless of their walk of life & spiritual understanding. Mr. Eddie still serves as a stable & loving force in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He has been married and divorced from their mother, (Thomasina “Honey” Atkins), three times and some think a fourth try at marriage isn’t out of the question.”

Atkins, who was a youth minster and church elder, left behind a wife and eight children.
