Nelly and Ashanti are not an item and it has never been proven (besides the countless romantic vacations, extravagant birthday parties and these pictures) that they ever were! Despite the abundant evidence, Nelly and Ashanti remain stern on their word, but that doesn’t refute how awkward it was watching them interact as if they never met each other during their interview on Fuse TV.

Nelly, among other things, is a spokesman for the Mike & Ike candy reunion and we chatted with the St. Louis star about the sweetest thing (besides the boxed treat) he’s ever eaten and the Fuse interview that left people scratching their heads.

Besides Mike & Ike’s, what’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever tasted?

Probably. My granny’s double chocolate cake!

How does the Mike & Ike experience coincide with your new album?

I’ve been eating Mike & Ike candy since I can remember…since I was old enough to walk to the store and buy them myself. They’re always around on the tour bus and back stage. It’s kind of a little obsession, that’s how this whole thing came about. They found out that I probably purchased half of their corporation. I’m probably the biggest funder of the situation. So they decided to give something back at this point. When the split happened. I was like, I need to step in and let them know that this effecting me!

You recently did an interview with your rumored ex Ashanti, was it awkward for you?

That interview was a year old.

What do you think was the reasoning behind releasing it so much later?

I don’t know. It’s definitely something that was odd.
