For the first time ever, all tiers of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater were under one roof for a star-studded event.
On May 7th, the Apollo Theater hosted performances by the young dancers of The Ailey School, the rising stars of Ailey II and the talented students from AileyCamp Washington Heights and Newark.

The gala was held not only to honor Ailey Board of Trustees member Robert Kissane, but to raise money for student scholarships. This year’s benefit earned a record breaking $1 million dollars for students who wish to attend The Ailey School and the organization’s Arts In Education & Community Programs, including AileyCamp.
Special guests of the evening included Amsale Abrera, Bevy Smith, Emilio Sosa, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Emily Blavatnik, Judith Jamison, Terry McMillan, Khephra Burns, and Henry McGee.
