Newbie rapper, A$AP Rocky recently claimed in an interview with The Coveteur that dark-skinned women can’t get away with rocking a red hue on their full lips. Here’s the exact combination of ignorant words that escaped the “F*ckin’ Problems” lyricist’s lips:

“But for real, for me, I feel like with the red lipstick thing it all depends on the pair of complexion. I’m just being for real. You have to be fair skinned to get away with that.”

A$AP is just another rapper joining the long list of lyricist who should keep their mouths shut on and off the latest “hot” tracks. From Rick Ross’ rape lyric (not to exclude all the other rappers who think it’s fun to rap about rape) to Lil’ Wayne‘s Emmett Till comparison, today’s music is attempting to desensitize the masses when it comes to serious topics that plague the youth.

While Rocky’s invalid opinion may not be as painful as Jay-Z or Rick Ross’ desire to rape an unsuspecting women, that doesn’t mean that his words don’t do what stick and stones typically do.

As a girlie girl who doesn’t wear much makeup, I’ve always coveted the ruby red lips of my friends who were bold enough and savvy enough to find the perfect shade. I’ve always been told that red works on every skin tone. The trick is to find the shade that suits your complexion. No skin tone is exempt from rocking various shades of red on their pouts.

In the hilarious words of Funky Dineva, ladies–put your “reddddd lipstick onnnn!”
