Meet Tia Norfleet, NASCAR’s First Black Female Driver
Move over Danica Patrick, there’s a new female driver in town and yes she’s black! We know that racing is a male-dominated sport, but Tia Norfleet is about to change the game. Tia is the daughter of Bobby Norfleet, a former NASCAR driver who was first spotted at the age of 14 racing karts and is now moving on to the big leagues.
“Around the age of 14 is when I really, really knew that this was what I wanted to do for a living; this was my passion,”Norfleet told the Huffington Post. When she was young, her dad put two car batteries into a little corvette she had and she drove that car “until the wheels fell off. Ever since then, I’ve just been so enthused about motorsports.
Besides breaking barriers, what is Norfleet’s goal? To win the Daytona 500!
