I went natural exactly a year ago. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Plus, I couldn’t really find a good reason to keep getting relaxers when my hair would still get poofy in a good rain rainstorm, or a hot summer day. I’m no hair guru (yet) but I’ve used enough products to know what works, what stinks – literally, and what left nasty residue in my hair. In the beginning, I was so frustrated with spending hundreds of dollars on product that didn’t do what it said it would. I wish that journey on no one.

So I got with some of my favorite beauty bloggers to give you a list of their must-have products and why they work for them. Natural hair blogger, Lexi from LexiWithTheCurls.com shares with HB how she keeps her tresses full of shine and volume.

Motions Naturally You Deep Conditioning Masque

“This deep conditioner works SO well on my curls. It makes my hair so much easier to detangle- something that occasionally takes me an hour to do. Once I comb through with a paddle brush, I rinse it out and my hair feels like silk! Very smooth and my curls are poppin’. Oh yeah…Let’s not forget the great price!”

Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Shampoo

“Because my hair is dyed, I need a very moisturizing shampoo. The Monoi shampoo is very gentle and has no sulfates which is great for my hair. Color treated hair tends to get more dry and is more prone to breakage so I have to prevent any damage before it happens! This is my preventative shampoo of choice!”

Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade

“Sometimes I need to slick down my edges but I don’t want anything too waxy and hard. I’m not a gel person at all. This pomade is very lightweight but still helps my edges lay down and stay put! I use this when I rock buns, pompadours, or faux hawks (and when I wear extensions)”

EDEN BodyWorks Peppermint Tea Tree Hair Oil

“I lllooovveee the smell of peppermint. Putting it on my scalp is so invigorating! This is a good blend of oils that makes my scalp and hair feel good. It’s always good to add a little oil to your hair to add some sheen.”
