The legendary Aretha Franklin took to the stage at this year’s Essence Music Festival and brought the house down in the only way the Queen of Soul knows how to. She sang classic hits like, “Ain’t No Way,” “Respect,” “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman” and “I’ve Never Loved A Man.”

She even sat poised at the piano and played a Whitney Houston classic, “I Will Always Love You” while honoring the fallen songstress. Franklin looked at home on stage as she took us all to church. During her performance, Miss Franklin halted the show to bring out the President of Essence Communications, Michelle Ebanks to express her gratitude. Aretha was then awarded with a Key to the City as well as Essence’s Power Award.

After her performance the woman that’s been in the game for over 50 years took time out to speak with the press. HelloBeautiful was lucky enough to ask Miss Franklin the one question she was willing to answer.

We asked Miss Franklin if she could work with any of the newer artists that are out right now, who would it be?

Here’s what The Queen of Soul had to say:

I like Melanie Fiona. I love Ne-Yo. I think he is so talented. I would love to work with him. If only he were a little older! [laughs] He met my grandson recently–because he’s about to be signed–and spoke with him.

I like Usher, a lot.

Oh and Chris Brown. I mean, it’s a shame that he’s such a talented boy who is troubled, but he is good. I wouldn’t mind working with him.
