The Tokyo transit system may be one of the most efficient public transportation systems ever built, but that doesn’t mean they are without serious issues. Back in 1912, Japan had an idea to implement women-only subway cars because they had a serious problem with groping on the crowded trains.

For those of you that live in metropolitan cities, you’re very used to your public transportation packing people in like sardines. This makes it easy for straphangers to rub against one another, purposely and play it off like an accident. Since Tokyo has introduced the women-only trains 100 years ago, they’ve been on-again, off-again, but have been fully restored since 2000.
It’s a real shame the powers that be in transit have to go to such lengths because perverts can’t keep their hands to themselves.
