Stephanie L. Young isn’t even 30 yet but her resume boasts the experience of someone nearly 10 years older. Young serves as Communications Director for the Congressional Black Caucus, and along with some other talented individuals under 35, she is part of the organization’s youngest staff ever.

At a little over 40 years old, the CBC enlisted the help of a younger generation of leaders to organize the next batch of politicos who will take over the country. Young seemed like a great fit based on her background in journalism (she served as Editorial Assistant at The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer), social media skills and proven track record for success.

In 2008, Young worked to register over 2 million voters for the 2008 presidential election as the communications associate for Rock the Vote, and in 2010 she served as the press secretary for Congressman Steve Cohen. Following that role, she joined the CBC to help refine communicate the messages of the organization’s 43 members to the nation.

“It is my job to tell our story, and every day I work on doing that well,” Young told “I left journalism to follow my passion in political communications,” Young said. She credits her successes with “not being afraid to take professional risks.” Creators Make Blogging Positive
