Say What?! Atlanta Store Clerk Charged After Pointing Gun At 11-Year-Old Boy
An Atlanta convenient store worker is being charged with aggravated assault for holding a gun to an 11-year-old boy.
On early Saturday morning Abhishek Dubey locked Dylan Curate in his store and held the boy at gunpoint because he thought Curate was stealing, according to WSB-TV.
“I was extremely saddened and disheartened by it. That was my son, my baby,” his mother, Deangela Terriquez, told the news outlet. “He didn’t do anything wrong. He just came to the store.”
Investigators agreed with Terriquez, who, after reviewing surveillance footage, did not see evidence of the young boy stealing, and instead arrested Dubey. While Dubey’s coworker said the gun was a toy, police later confirmed the weapon was in fact real, but unloaded.
“We would like for the clerk to be held accountable in a court of law,” Terriquez stressed.

Teaming up with actress Zulay Henao and PartnersInKynd for the “Yo Mama, My Mama” project, the rapper took Yvette Hicks, a single mother of eight, and treated her to $1,000 of fresh groceries, Blavity reported.
“I figure with all the tragedy, and all the brothers killing each other, cops killing brothers, brothers killing cops, the one thing that people care about the most around the world is their mothers,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
He also said, “Without our mothers, their would be no us & if I don’t know anything else about people in this world … I know for a fact, WE LOVE OUR MAMAS … Tonight was amazing !!! Glad I could put a huge smile on your mothers face for you.”

Nikki Giovanni: Nina Simone Would Have Joined The Black Lives Matter Movement
Author, poet, and activist Nikki Giovanni told The Root in a recent interview that if her good friend, iconic singer Nina Simone, were still alive, she would have joined the Black Lives Matter movement.
“If Nina were here. She’d have her Black Lives Matter [T-shirt] on … These are great young men and women, and they’re bold, and they are saying to America, ‘Something’s going to change,'” the 74-year-old said.
This revelation doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the pro-Black political messages Nina infused in her songs such as “Mississippi Goddamn” and “Young, Gifted And Black.”
Giovanni added that she was proud of what the young Black activists have been doing in the wake of police brutality and systematic racism. She also revealed where she and NIna first met, how “wonderful of a woman she thought her friend was, and what she misses about her most.
Houston Hip-Hop Artists Open Accounts With Texas Black-Owned Bank
Houston rappers came together this week to open accounts at Unity National Bank, the only black-owned bank in Texas.
According to CW39, artists Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Willie D, and Trae The Truth believe leading by example will help local businesses grow, help communities prosper, and reduce violence.
Willie D also stressed that this about “[creating] an atmosphere of respect instead of discontent with our law enforcement. You know, it’s very important that people understand that when we say Black Lives Matter, we’re not saying that Blue Lives do not matter.”
The city’s Mayor Sylvester Turner believes this is a step in the right direction.
“There a lot of people in our city that have lost hope,” he said. “And people are feeling helpless. People in many ways are feeling disrespected, and these individuals here — these artists — they have collectively more power than I do.”
Paul Wall stressed that “even if we save just one life. It was a success.”
